The Artist Who Defined an Era

At the heart of the exhibition is Alphonse Mucha, one of the most influential artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and a defining figure of the Art Nouveau movement. His distinctive style—combining graceful female figures, floral ornamentation, and decorative typography—became iconic and continues to inspire art, fashion, and design today.

The exhibition unfolds in three acts:

  • The Parisian poster master – highlighting his rise to fame through theatrical posters and collaborations with stage icons.
  • The 1900 World Expo was a pivotal moment reflecting his international ambition and recognition.
  • The Slav Epic – his monumental cycle expressing a humanistic vision of history, peace, and cultural identity.

When Art Comes Alive

What sets “MUCHA – Beyond Art Nouveau” apart is its format. Inside the monumental Artboxen space, Mucha’s works are no longer confined to frames—they surround the viewer, move, and breathe through light and sound.

Through high-quality projections and immersive scenography:

  • intricate details expand into vast visual landscapes,
  • ornamental motifs animate in rhythm with music,
  • Visitors engage with art through multiple senses.

This makes the experience accessible and engaging for all ages—from art enthusiasts to families with children.

A Lasting Influence

Mucha’s legacy extends far beyond Art Nouveau. The exhibition reveals how his aesthetic has influenced:

  • the 1960s Flower Power movement,
  • Japanese manga and illustration,
  • street art and tattoo culture,
  • contemporary visual storytelling.

His vision of beauty, harmony, and symbolism continues to resonate across generations and cultures.
