The upcoming XVI Florence Biennale (23–31 October 2027) at Fortezza da Basso in Florence is one of the most important events on the international art and design calendar. This year’s theme, “Beyond the Sense of Time”, invites reflection on transience, memory, and eternity, exploring how contemporary art and design shape our perception of time.

As the Editor-in-Chief of the global magazine DESIGNER, as well as a designer and artist, I follow the Biennale with great interest. It is a unique platform for creativity from artists around the world and fosters discussions on how art and design merge tradition with modernity while interpreting universal values such as beauty and time.

The brands I create – Halina Rosa Design and Royal Rosa Couture – have long explored the connection between local cultural heritage and contemporary design through hand-painted patterns and high-quality natural materials. This year, I plan to apply for participation in the Biennale, seeing this prestigious event as an exceptional opportunity to present my work, engage with the international art community, and gain inspiration for future projects.
The Florence Biennale is not only a showcase for artistic works but also a space for exchanging experiences, ideas, and initiatives within the international art community. For me, as a designer and editor, it serves as an important reference point, influencing future collections, projects, and editorial work in DESIGNER magazine.
For artists and designers, the Biennale offers an opportunity to reflect on their own work within a global artistic context. For observers – including professional creators and readers of DESIGNER – it highlights the importance of dialogue between tradition and contemporary innovation, inspiring meaningful creative endeavors across the world of art and design.
Applications are now open to artists and designers from around the world, who can apply by submitting their work in a wide range of categories, including painting, sculpture, photography, video art, installation, performance art, digital art, and design in all its forms, from architecture to product design, and from fashion to visual communication.
