James Lodge is an experienced business continuity and resilience leader with over 25
years of experience across banking, legal, and technology sectors.
As Global Head of Business Continuity at Linklaters, James has enabled effective responses to events such as floods, terror attacks, protests, and the COVID-19 pandemic – rapidly enabling remote work with minimal disruption. He has also pioneered Disaster Recovery functions and amplified resilience through technology enhancements at several UK banks.
A Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute, James leads their Operational Resilience
Special Interest Group. His contributions to the field have earned him multiple award
nominations and wins, including the 2023 CIR Testing and Exercising award and the 2024 DRI Global Award of Excellence for Program Leader of the Year. James is a frequent conference speaker and author, regularly contributing to the Crisis Response Journal.
James created the PREPARE framework, a dynamic methodology enabling organizations to implement operational resilience pragmatically and robustly. He imparts his expertise through training programs, realistic exercise simulations, and consultancy roles, advising financial institutions, law firms, and governments.
Beyond his professional role, James builds personal resilience through adventure.
Exploring remote regions, cultures and pushing physical limits looking to take on challenges and expeditions whenever and wherever possible. He has completed marathons in challenging environments including the Sahara Desert, Arctic Circle (Greenland), Annapurna (Himalayas), and the Peruvian Amazon Jungle. Over the past 17 years, his adventures have raised tens of thousands for various charities, and has recently been recognised as a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
James’s career success stems from his ability to blend thought leadership with practical implementation and real world experience. He draws on all aspects of resilience to impart a deep expertise through training programs, realistic exercising simulations, teaching roles and consultancy, supporting financial institutions, law firms and sections of governments.
