A ceramics installation celebrating the creative voice of People of Determination
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has brought ‘Beautiful Mistakes’ to Wasl Tower, an Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children ceramics installation presented in partnership with Wasl Group, a leading developer shaping Dubai’s real estate landscape, in support of the Rashid Center for People of Determination. It advances inclusion by opening the Authority’s programming to voices too often left out, and reflects its wider commitment to social responsibility.
Developed under the supervision of artist and curator Kamal Al Zoubi, Head of the Ceramics Department at Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, the installation was created by a group of People of Determination. Made at the pottery wheel and through hand-building techniques, each piece carries the mark of the artist who created it.

‘Beautiful Mistakes’ positions imperfection as a deliberate artistic value, highlighting the distinct nature of individual experiences and bringing them together into a unified composition. The artwork rests on the idea that everyone has the right to shape the culture around them. The art reveal at Wasl Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road was attended by representatives from Dubai Culture, Wasl, and the Rashid Center for People of Determination.
The initiative reinforces art as a universal language for human connection, demonstrating the impact that collaboration between cultural and community institutions can achieve in Dubai. It reflects an ongoing commitment to nurturing a creative community where inclusion is central and where shared artistic endeavour strengthens social cohesion.

Ahlam Al Bannai, Director of Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, said: “Empowering People of Determination remains a key priority for Dubai Culture as part of its efforts to build an inclusive cultural ecosystem. ‘Beautiful Mistakes’ embodies this by providing an enabling environment where individuals can showcase their talent and contribute to the cultural landscape on their terms. The project affirms human creativity as the essence of artistic practice, and presents a strong model for how institutional partnerships can drive inclusivity and inspire the next generation.”
Amna Al Muqahwi, Wasl Art Executive, said: “This initiative reflects a shared vision between Wasl and our partners to create enabling platforms that puts people, culture, and inclusion at the centre of our community life. Supporting People of Determination will never be a standalone effort, but part of a broader, long-term commitment to enabling creative expression and ensuring that every voice has the opportunity to contribute to Dubai’s cultural landscape.”
Hanaa Bou Hamdan, Wasl Art Curator, said: “ ‘Beautiful Mistakes’ represents the power of art when it is rooted in people and place. Each ceramic piece carries an honest expression that cannot be replicated, and together they form a collective narrative of humanity and shared creativity. At Wasl, we see art as a living dialogue within our spaces, and this installation is a meaningful example of how that dialogue brings people together.”
