ART CONNECTS WOMEN (6th Edition) Under the Patronage of UNESCO 1st March 2023,
7 min read

Following 5 successful runs since its inaugural edition in 2017, Art Connects Women (ACW) will once again take center stage as the most significant leading women’s art exhibition in UAE and the surrounding regions. Organized by ZeeArts Gallery from the 8th to 11th of March 2023, Dubai will play host to an extensive array of artworks by 112 women artists, each representing their home country (112 Countries) in this annual showcase of creative prowess.
The 4-day art extravaganza aligns its purpose with that of International Women’s Day, thus centering its intentions on providing the most optimal women representation in the art sector while taking greater strides in empowering the female gender in achieving new heights – all these to be activated on a global scale. This coming year, the management of survivability will take a back seat to the work of renewal, growth, and progression. To dream is to inject courage into thoughts, and dreams are the beginning of all new ideas that are to be made real. As such, the exhibition theme has been aptly named ‘Dare to Dream’.

Education trumps ignorance, and educating has always been Art Connects Women’s leading advocacy to better navigate the ever-shifting landscapes of the art world. To equip women artists with the appropriate skill sets, the ACW furthers its pedagogical efforts through its hosting of conferences – with assistance from industry experts and leaders – which aim to shed light on often-neglected areas in the field. Our conference theme is “Fostering a Sustainable Art and Cultural Ecosystem” where we will introduce three-panel discussions: Art and Finance, Embrace Equity, and Focusing on the female architect and Cultural Heritage. The second night welcomes artists from across disparate cultures, nationalities, and social backgrounds to mingle and busk in the concentration of creative finesse that pervades the halls. All things good in history remain documented for future generations to reference, and it is no different for the annual Art Connects Women initiative. Each artist will have their artwork and their portrait perpetuated within the Art Book entitled ‘Women Artists around the World’ — now on to its 4th volume. These books will remain in the private collections of the Art Connects Women stakeholders, public showcases in libraries, as well distributed to the artists.

Finally, the philosophy of Art Connects Women is one of celebration. As the curtains gradually get drawn over the event, a final tribute is to be paid to all participating artists for their strength, courage, determination, and messages of empowerment to the creative sector, women in the world, as well as all of humanity. The award ceremony ensures that every woman gains the recognition that their selfless contributions are valued and that they play a significant role in fostering a society that is inclusive, altruistic, and above all, human. Zaahirah Muthy, the founder of Art Connects Women extend her gratitude and Congratulations to all the Artist Ambassador and emphasize “DARE TO DREAM” but work hard to make those dream a reality. She has never ever imagined that one day she will connect with the world through the Arts. She strongly believes that Art is a Catalyse to make a positive impact.
