Tigullio Design District 2026 – A Week of Design on the Ligurian Coast

From April 20 to 26, 2026, the Italian Riviera will once again become a vibrant hub of international creativity with the return of Tigullio Design District 2026. Set across the picturesque towns of Chiavari, Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, and Portofino, the event offers a unique blend of design, architecture, fashion, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage, all framed by the extraordinary beauty of the Ligurian coastline.

The program begins on April 18 with an exclusive opening ceremony in Chiavari. Held at Villa Rocca Park, the event features the fashion show “Time and Tide” by CNA Federmoda Genova, exploring the relationship between nature, time, and design. Later that evening, the public is invited to the opening of “Minimal Views,” an exhibition presenting artistic interpretations of the Tigullio region through minimalist postcard-style visuals.

On April 19, the focus shifts to the sea and nautical design. At Casa del Mare in Santa Margherita Ligure, a series of conferences and presentations will explore the future of maritime design, featuring professionals who will share insights into the full creative process—from concept development to final production. Visitors can also experience related activities such as regattas and guided tours of historic boats, bringing design into a real-world context.

The core of the festival unfolds from April 20, with a rich program of exhibitions, installations, and presentations across the region. Highlights include “Design ante litteram,” dedicated to the iconic Chiavari chair, and “The Design of Peru,” an international exhibition that introduces a global perspective. Numerous galleries, showrooms, and creative spaces will open their doors, showcasing both traditional Italian craftsmanship and contemporary design innovation.

Education and future-oriented thinking play a key role in the festival. Workshops such as “Design between Land and Sea” and the “Design 4 Future” forum address themes of sustainability, inclusivity, and the evolving role of design. The “36×36” exhibition highlights emerging talents, offering young designers a platform to present their work and vision.

Throughout the week, visitors can attend conferences, brand presentations, product launches, and networking events, creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration among designers, architects, and industry professionals from around the world.

The festival concludes on April 26 with a prestigious final event at Castello Brown in Portofino. Overlooking the stunning harbor, this closing ceremony offers a symbolic and elegant end to a week dedicated to creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange.

Tigullio Design District 2026 is more than a design festival—it is an immersive experience where design meets landscape, tradition meets innovation, and creativity becomes a shared language. It is a must-attend event for professionals, artists, and enthusiasts seeking inspiration in one of Europe’s most captivating regions.
