Patxi Xabier Lezama. Mythology, Tradition and Symbolism
Evolution is something innate to the being, to society and to the cosmos itself.
The human being throughout history has evolved as a result of conscious thought in which tradition and origin have played fundamental pillars or assets of alignment with everything that any form of expression entails.
The very different forms of expression do not interfere in any way within the artistic since on many occasions we even find a more than perfect conjugation between tradition, which refers to the ancestral, and modernity or contemporaneity.
Patxi Xabier Lezama uniquely combines all of this.
His work is the result of a more than successful mix of the search for origins or tradition, a taste for the mythological and surrealism that is the source of a pure need to express what is felt, to solve the enigma that involves breaking down piece by piece what is dreamed of to thus trying to provide it with avant-garde and modernity, seasoned with touches of substantial innovation in which time and space merge to achieve a different work, a work singularly worthy of being tasted, enjoyed and, why not, admired.
Lines converge in soft curvatures at the whim of latent futurism in which nature and land are of now and are of tomorrow, a disciplined orb governed by respect for the ancestral and directed to the mythological as a source of conceptual need.
Personally, I want to highlight the magnetism that these sculptural pieces induce in me. A clear conjugation between attraction, stimulation, and incitement to keep observing them.
Very new and ancient at the same time is what Lezama presents to us. Somewhat rooted in Basque culture but with touches or extrapolations that call the viewer to enter an uncertain universe but one of absolute calm, without sounds that distort the work but with a great internal feeling of hope in humanity through a great change produced for another reality that is yet to come.
Perhaps we are faced with something based on past inheritances and mythology but with premonitory overtones. Something that is capable of creating controversial sensations or feelings in us. Something worthy of being studied, referenced and, of course, enjoyed.
An elegant and careful work, with a great interior message without a doubt.
