9th World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media 2026 – Polish Media from Around the World to Meet in Warsaw and Pułtusk

Warsaw – Pułtusk | October 2026

Representatives of Polish and Polish diaspora media from different parts of the world will gather in Poland for the 9th World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media 2026. The official inauguration will take place at the Senate of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw, opening another edition of this international gathering of journalists, editors, publishers and media representatives working beyond Poland’s borders.

This year’s Forum will also be attended by Halina Rosa, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of DESIGNER Magazine Global, representing an international media platform based in Sweden.

World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media – A Community Beyond Borders

Over successive editions, the World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media has developed into a meeting place for representatives of the press, radio, television and digital media created by Polish communities around the world.

The history of the initiative dates back to 2014. The World Association of Polish Diaspora Media (ŚSMP) was subsequently established in September 2019 during the 2nd World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media in Kraków.

One of the key figures behind the development of this initiative is Teresa Sygnarek, President of the World Association of Polish Diaspora Media, who has also been closely connected with the Polish community in Sweden for many years.

Teresa Sygnarek has consistently emphasised the importance of cooperation between media organisations operating in different parts of the world and the need to create a shared space for Polish diaspora journalists. From the beginning, the Forum has sought to connect media communities from East and West and to build relationships across national borders.

During the 7th Forum in 2024, Teresa Sygnarek also highlighted the development of new Polish diaspora media outlets. A significant proportion of participants represented new media, demonstrating that, alongside technological and generational change, Polish diaspora journalism continues to evolve and seek new ways of reaching audiences.

The World Association of Polish Diaspora Media

The World Association of Polish Diaspora Media (ŚSMP) provides an international platform for cooperation among media professionals connected with Polish communities around the world.

Its activities extend beyond the organisation of the annual Forum and include initiatives related to journalistic standards, freedom of speech, integration of the media community, and representation of the challenges and needs facing Polish diaspora media.

In June 2026, the Association participated in a ceremony at the Polish Press Agency (PAP), during which journalist Andrzej Poczobut received the “For Freedom of Speech” statuette awarded by ŚSMP.

In September, representatives of the Association also visited TVP World, where they discussed the challenges facing Polish media operating abroad and Polish diaspora media. During the visit, they were also given an opportunity to see television production from behind the scenes.

The activities of ŚSMP demonstrate that contemporary Polish diaspora media are much more than channels of information. They document the lives of Polish communities abroad, preserve language, culture and collective memory, while creating an international space for communication and exchange.

Four Days of Meetings, Debate and Development

According to information concerning the 9th World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media, this year’s edition has been planned as a four-day gathering in Warsaw and Pułtusk.

The programme is expected to include the official inauguration at the Senate of the Republic of Poland, a press conference at the Polish Press Agency, as well as meetings, panel discussions and lectures involving representatives of the academic community, including scholars associated with the University of Warsaw and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

One of the Forum’s principal objectives is to support the professional development of Polish diaspora journalists, strengthen relationships between media organisations operating abroad and those based in Poland, and encourage discussion about the standards and future of contemporary journalism.

The Forum is also an opportunity for people who work thousands of kilometres apart to meet face to face. Although they operate in different languages, cultures and media environments, they share an interest in Poland and in the lives and experiences of Polish communities around the world.

DESIGNER Magazine Global at the 9th World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media

The participation of DESIGNER Magazine Global in this year’s Forum reflects the publication’s evolving editorial direction, bringing together international journalism with culture, art, design, heritage and documentation.

For the editorial team, the Forum will also provide an opportunity to meet representatives of Polish diaspora media from different countries, exchange professional experiences and develop new international connections.

For Halina Bartoszek Rosa, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of DESIGNER Magazine Global, the documentary role of contemporary media is of particular importance – preserving the stories of people, communities and initiatives that contribute to Polish cultural heritage beyond the country’s borders.

The 9th World Forum of Polish Diaspora Media will therefore be more than a gathering of the journalistic community. It will also provide a space for strengthening relationships between Poland and Polish communities abroad and for discussing the future of media that document the lives, achievements and experiences of Polish communities around the world every day.
